In 1977 I was in the trombone section of the stage band at TCJC northwest campus. James Davis was our director. Preston Thomas showed me how to assemble a trombone in 7th grade at Leonard Middle School. Ed Wright did some student teaching when I was at Western Hills High. James brought in Preston, Ed, and Larry Harrison to sweeten the band. I was blown away. I also played a concert with Mario Cruz at Western Hills when he came back to play with his brothers Gilbert and Vince in our talent show. Those were fun times!
