Secret Love–Ashley Alexander

Recorded forty years ago in November of 1981, this is from a great album called Ashley Alexander played Frank Mantooth. The musicians in the band were mostly ex-students of Ashley’s. Unfortunately, Ashley passed away in 1988 at the age of 52 from heart issues. He was one of the few who could play a double trombone (or superbone), which was a combination of a slide and a valve trombone.

Pete Peterson & The Collection Jazz Orchestra at Strictly Tabu in Dallas. Solos are Larry Spencer (trumpet) and Pete Brewer (Sax). This rehearsal band would play every Tuesday night for gas money, and each week could be a different personnel.
