The LPs in this room were all donated. The musicians were chosen because they offered significant musical contributions to jazz. The portrait art was created by Mrs. Pat Pierce of Sherman and the trumpets have been purchased at auctions, or donated. The Maynard Ferguson memorabilia estate was acquired through a joint effort of the Sherman Jazz Museum (memorabilia) and Dan Cathy, Chick-fil-A, (sheet music). Dan Cathy donated Maynard’s music library to the University of North Texas College of Music jazz program. The ballroom is a collection of instruments owned and played by well-known musicians. All memorabilia from the Maynard Ferguson estate was purchased in 2008 following his 2006 passing.
Some of the trumpets in this room were owned by Doc Severinsen, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Al Hirt, Bix Beiderbeck, and Harry James.
The trunks were used to carry various band equipment and music.
